Went to www.bedfordautodrome.com today. Whilst there they did a noise test on my Cerbera.

Guess what, it failed. Read 110db. 4500rpm approx 1m away. Limit for this track is 101db stationary and 87db when on the track at a certain distance away.

A bit of a pain in the ar$e as I recently had a set of cans fitted by Joolz, and was hoping this would be enough, obviously not! (anyone else had this done?)

Any suggestions other than pushing pillows up the tailpipes!

My Cerbera measured 118dB at Castle Combe last year.
I had a set of tail pipe inserts from Peninsula which brought it down to 106dB then fitted a set of Merlin silencers over the tail pipes to get to 99dB. Measured at 1m and 4500rpm.

Don't have the Cerbera anymore but I do have the inserts and silencers.

Will they fit a sports system, are they fairly universal? Are they easy to fit?

Thanks

with the extra silencers you have james, dave haslam's car measures well under 100 db .. altho he has std rear box not sports pipes. maybe ur sports pipes re resonating at 4500 revs creating more noise than we think?

the same silencers are on the back of ceejay's tasmin racer .. previously earsplittingly loud, now the quietest car at recent anglesey track day! .. the difference was staggering .. don't know why it doesnt work on your car tho ..

As Joolz says with his intermediates fitted and a standard back box they measured mine on two separate days at Goodwood at 93db and 95db

Another way car owners are discriminated against - did you know that light aircraft are unsilenced and run on leaded fuel?

Yeah Joolz, those silencers really worked didn't they. Reminded me of the Audis going round Le Mans compared to the Vettes, though obviously not as fast.

They weren't pretty though but funtional. Have asked Joolz to modify the exhaust system for next test to tidy up the airflow at the back of the car plus a few other bitz n pieces.

Howz it all goin Joo.
