2 hour endurance challenge.

Following on from the enjoyable test events around Le Mans I have decided to run my own endurance championship which will run as follows.

Tracks and dates.

Tuesday 26-01-10 Le Mans (New circuit) R2 class cars
Tuesday 23-02-10 Road America R2 class cars
Tuesday 27-04-10 Sebring * R2 class cars
Tuesday 25-05-10 Silverstone Grand Prix R2 class cars
Tuesday 29-06-10 Mugello R2 class cars
Tuesday 27-07-10 Le Mans (old circuit) Classic race car

  • Could be changed depending on DLC content

Cars.

The following cars are eligible

3 Racing Corvette C5.R
4 Racing Corvette C6.R (both versions)
5 Astra
6 Superflo Supra
007 DBR9
008 DBR9
009 DBR9
11 Ferrari 550
12 Calsonic Skyline
25 Eclispe Advan Supra
35 Yellowhat YMS supra
50 Racing Corvette C5.R
72 Ferrari 550
88 Ferrari 550

(Basically front engine rear wheel drive but not DTM cars)

In the first 5 races cars must be stock and only 1 person can use any one car so we can’t have 7 Corvettes all in the same paint. You will need 2 cars to complete the championship.

Race 6 will use tuned (max tune PI S635) and painted classic cars of your own choice from the following list. Although you will need to upgrade I am banning any engine or aspiration swaps. No AERO and rear wheel drive are compulsory, other wise anything goes. The following cars are eligible and multiple entrees are ok.

57 250 Testa Rossa
61 E Type
64 250 GTO
65 Cobra Daytona Coupe
65 Cobra 427/SC
66 GT40
67 Miura P400
69 Charger Daytona Hemi

I may allow later cars from the 70’s, maybe - if there is a car you want to use beg and I may allow it no promises tho.

Rules.

The grid will be formed in a reverse true skill grid with a 3 second delay start. Traction control and stability will be forced off.

The winner of each race will be the one who completes the furthest distance within the 2 hour time limit. Damage will be set to limited and tires and fuel will be on however full damage will be on for the classic race together with no racing line....

Points will not be awarded however your race distance in miles will be added together for all races and the champion will be the person who has covered the most miles over the six 2 hour races.

If you are unable to race in all events you will be able to nominate 1 reserve driver to drive for you, however using your reserve driver will give you a 3 mile penalty.
Race lobby will open at 8:15pm and the race will start @ 8:30pm and as usual gentlemanly rules regarding offs and harsh moves. Final race sign up will be 24hours before the 1st race and so on for the 2nd and on, anyone who signs up to race and does not show will be deducted 20 miles from there overall score.
Sorry to be harsh but I really want people who can commit to the full season, obviously people who have arranged for a stand in will not be penalised. Please think long and hard before committing to race as I expect all racers to contribute to making this an enjoyable and fair event.

Prizes.

1st 12 month XBOX live subscription + 2100 XBOX points
Yup you read that right big championship big prize
2nd 4200 XBOX points
3rd 2100 XBOX points

Also smaller prizes for everyone that completes the full championship - and prizes for anyone who fills in for a main driver.

I'd like to put my name down for that. I love endurance racing, and I can't see any problems being online for the races.

I'm going to use the 007 DB9 and the Miura (or the GT40? Can't decide yet! hehe)

Tuesday nights, one race a month, in R3 cars, endurance races.......suits you sir......

Even I can commit to that as that class & kind of racing is exactly what I need to get off my arse and find the time to get back on XBL.

Please Chris find me a space!!!

As for cars, well I've spent such little time on FM3 that I've not even tested any R3 cars or any of those on the classic list so I'll let you know which ones I'll be racing.

Great idea and prizes Chris thumbup

idea Mental note.......Re-arrange office this evening, plug computer & Xbox back in, get on line and have a giggle with the PH'ers.

Starting to get some interest. Muz r2 cars not r3.
don't worry to much about the classic cars you don't have to commit until 1 week before the final race which could give you chance to save up.

I was thinking of running an unofficial test session tonight if anyone fancies it. Going to do 10 or 12 laps at each circuit to see how it feels. Only the R2 cars tho not the classics. Should be around at about 8:30pm.
