Anyone flown across the pond since the Christmas day clampdown ?

Are BA still using their inflight entertainment system (sans map I presume) or have they had to disable totally ?

thanks all

Why would BA have to disable their inflight entertainment system ?

Flew to LA on the 26th and back from Vegas on the 2nd and both ways the system was working as normal...

Rumours that the "Over-reaction", "Must Do Something" police had said that live in-flight maps were giving potential terrorists information about which city they want to blow up the aircraft over (looking out of windows is obviously not technical enough for them).

If the developers of the BA system were a bit divvy and not forward looking they might not have made it a config option to have the map or not, and had to take the whole thing out of service until new codebase was uploaded.

I think they were all told to turn their sky maps off. Which meant on day 1 some airlines had to turn the whole system off. That must have been one loooooooong flight!
