Valet, detail, two completely different things in my opinion both in terms of workmanship and cost.

I think the definition of detailing is:

Valeting an expensive car properly using a half decent wax in an expensive box, whilst charging a premium? wink

Defo crap, sorry...

Valet is a wash and hand wax with a quick clean inside.. 1 hour job, sometimes 2.

Detail is taping the whole car off, machine polishing it, taking out swirls/scratches, cleaning bits valeters dont like inside of wheels, arch liners, engine bays etc. Cleaning the inside inch by inch. Using a proper polish, a proper wax and a proper sealant. 6 to 10 hours job, and in some cases a 2 day job when the car is in really bad nick.

Valet, £20 to £50 depending on who you use.
Detail £200 to £1000 depending who you use and condition of car.

Oh and couldn't recommend Ally enough, when it comes to detailing no one will ever touch my car again apart from him.

Have to agree a detail is way better and more involved than a valet, i use Gavin@Detail Ecosse in Aberdeen and like the post above i wont use anyone else the job hes done on my car is just top notch and ive had cars detailed before when i lived darn souf and know what i want and demand.

There are good valeters out there but expect just that a valet.
