Flicking through the music channels on Sky earlier, 99.9% of it is full of talentless s warbling along to a mobile phone ringtone in a language as far removed from English as possible. Until I found "The Vault" which seems to show mostly older stuff and is therefore instantly better. So, on comes Michael Jackson's Beat It. Great song, epic guitar solo, pretty great video too. However, every time one of the people in the video is smoking, a huge black box appears over their face. And the knife fight bit has been replaced with the same image of people opening a warehouse door over and over again.
God I hate these fking useless nimby "please think of the children" fkwit sandle wearing bd lentil eating s.

Exactly. Dave do a similar thing when showing TG repeats. Remember that episode where they had the Porsche tobacco pipes? It goes all pixelated when Hammond is smoking one listening to a Clarkson ramble.

Apparently 'they' have even photoshopped the Beatles Abbey Road album cover to remove the cigarette McCartney had in his hand - totally bonkers

It's not just a recent phenomenon. I remember reading some anecdote from a fifties playwright who'd submitted a text to the Censorship Board or whatever it was called.

The play contained a Dutch character called Van Damm. The censors returned it with a request that the language be toned down, and suggested maybe he could use Van Drat instead! hehe

7/10. Not bad subject matter, but not enough swearing. Oh, and rants should be a lot longer. This one was far too succinct and to the point.

Not sure where you got that from. Look on Amazon and you'll see it's still there.

However, I watch The Simpsons re-runs on Channel 4 from time to time and am constantly bemused by some of the stuff they have 'censored'.

It seems to be mainly drug references like when they cut out the line containing the word "Peyote" in the episode where Homer harvests the hippies' secret stash of vegetables after trashing their juice-bottling machine.

Surely they should also cut all the scenes where Homer drinks beer, Patty/Selma smokes and Itchy cuts Scratchy's head off for the umpteenth time!

Especially as thats where the phrase "will somebody please think of the children" comes from

Bit off topic but did anyone see Smoky & the Bandit over Christmas? The censors have made it pretty much unwatchable because they've deleted about 70% of sheriff Buford T. Justices funny one liners, truly pathetic censoring what is basically a childrens film in the first place.

It's definately double standard time when they dub out a cigar but will happily show music videos with lots, and lots of very fit young lasses jiggling about with feck all on.

Not that there's owt wrong with that!

Over Christmas we had a few old timers over and I flicked over to one of the music channels for a bit of background music. Cue Frank, 85, sat there mesmerised. Asked me when they started airing lap dancing on TV and where could he get it.
