1) The magnetic boot opening device sold by TVR Gear that allows you to open the boot on a chimp or griff without having the ignition on or pressing the release button. Is it reliable? Recommend it?
2) A DAB radio in a TVR - internal aerial good enough to get DAB reception?
3) One of those CD/tuner head units that contain a satnav screen that pops out and flips up. Enough room for this in a Chimp? Or is the gear stick too close? If I have a passenger I actually prefer a map to GPS (which tends to try to navigate you via daft routes and sometimes through rivers) but could be useful in some instances. In need of a new stereo so wondering what to get, pioneer system that came with the car only works intermittently now and in any case is a bit rubbish. Any suggestions? Can you get an MP3 compatible CD changer? Fed up with changing discs all the time.. 6 albums not enough.

Can't help you on the 1st 2 questions, but it seems i can help you on the 2nd.
I just got sat nav for my car. It's a removeable one. I was going to go for one like you were describing, but i couldn't justify the cost of one, not to mention the moving in and out of cars problem. I also think i got a damn good deal on it too. It's a Pocket PC with all the add ons for GPS, maps are stored in SD cards (about 40 quid for a 265MB card, map discs, if looked for, can be Very cheap
In the package, was also 2xSDcards one with north germany on it, and the major towns and cities in northern european countries, the other one for south germany and southern euroupe.
Now, you may say the detail of this thing isn't very good, in fact, you're very wrong! I live in the middle of nowhere, and as there is a large contingent of military here, there are a large anount of "tank roads" these are small, windy roads usually out of the way used for manouvers on the ranges. it actually shows them all, and surrounding areas. it has night mode, voice signals, it shows you either maps, or arrows. The biggest plus about this systemn... it takes about 1 miunte to move from one car into another! it also comes with a very good suction thingie for the window.
Add all that to a pocket PC, which has an MP3 player, media player, voice recorder..etc.etc. and you have a stonking good systemn ( i'm sure a little modification could be used to connect it to the car speakers too)
I paid about £260 for it... which has made my MP3 player head unit a little more redundant, oh well!

no, but peninsula fitted the modwise one to my chim and its great.

while peninsula had the car, I had them fit a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB53. I dunno where they put the aerial, but DAB seems fine to me.

dunno about sat nav in a tiv, but the woodstock will play mp3 from cd, or from mmc/sd cards...

That sounds interesting, where did you get it for that price? Could be tempted myself - would be handy for the scenic route to Le Mans!

Because it has all the same fittings as the existing unit it took about 5 minutes to fit (comes with the special extraction tool). The radio is a bit better than the old one but not great. The MP3 is brilliant, no problems at all.

You could try a Kenwood music Keg is sits in the boot like a cd changer but is basically a large removablehard drive which you install mp3's on from your PC.
As far as i know it can connect to any head unit which will take a cd changer.
