Looks like the 'luck' is carrying on for 2010...
Discussion
Having written off last year as being utterly, utterly s
te, it would appear that 2010 is starting the same way.
Em came home from work today, and is losing her job.
If there is a bright side to any of it, they have been treating her like s
t recently, so she is eager to get out, and they are paying her a reasonable sum to leave.
So, can someone suggest a reasonable holiday for 1? She needs to de stress after last year and the work situation, and I can't go as I'm not aloud to go in the sun at all.
Any ideas?

It's really crap.
Poor old em has stood by me throughout last year- which took some doing at times I'm sure. She was the only one bringing in an income for most of the year, and carried on through some tough times after the accident.
She has also worked herself to the bone for this company, who have now dropped her like a hot rock.
Not a great start to the year

Why dont you come up here to Scotland and have a spa holiday or a log cabin?
Look up Crief Hydro. You can both go there!

I am tempted
They look great but she is insistant on going somewhere where she can lay in the sun for a while- we used to travel a fair amount but that has been scuppered somewhat since the accident- I can't go in the sun for the next year- and she adores both travel and the sun, so will end up going with a mate.

That is pants! At least she is getting a good sum out of a job where they are treating her bad.
Did I read somewhere she is in hospitality/catering?
She was, yes! Did I read somewhere she is in hospitality/catering?

Apart from cleaning
(I am in catering, if that reads rude at all)

Oh jesus! Can you convince yourselves that the decision was made in 2009, so it's still 'last year' really???
Re: somewhere warm, depends on budget:-
- Low: Canaries / Sharm & around / Morocco (warm rather than hot in Jan/Feb)
- Med: Caribbean / Mauritius / Thailand** / Africa*
- High: Maldives / 'posh' Caribbean / Dubai***
* Zanzibar/Kenya/S.Africa/similar
** Would be my choice, but 12-hour flights each way. West-coast would be my suggestion as it has the picture-postcard beaches, and she can pick from very-touristy (Phuket) through to quiet and secluded. East Coast & islands have more 'nightlife' (Pattaya, Koh Samui, etc.), peninsula has the golf resorts.
*** Don't. Unless you have money to waste and like to be seen wasting it.
