engine swaps

I hv a 1986 280i. Can the installed transmission take a 350 engine or were the transmissions different? I am in Canada and have access to land rover engines which I understand to be similar to the 350 engine.

Jim the V8 wont fit onto you gearbox ( you may be able to get a kit ) and I am not sure that the V8 gearbox will fit in your chassis without mods as its too wide. Good luck with your quest for that V8 growl.
