Calling Solicitors - your help is needed (Eurotunnel)
Discussion
I had planned a short break with my family prior to Xmas and was caught up in the Eurotunnel delays.
I complained to Eurotunnel, who have offered me a discount voucher for the cost of the crossing and will not pay out for anything else.

Can i claim more back from them - i.e. fuel costs, accomdation etc?
Any help is appreciated.....

I would have thought you're stuck with their offer then, the circumstances of the weather and Eurostar trains getting stuck in the tunnel could be argued to be beyond Eurotunnel's control. You could try and ring or write to them outlining the expenses you incurred and how disappointed your family were at such an important time of year etc etc and they may up their offer for goodwill.
I work at the tunnel and there are frequent delays at busy times due to train failures etc as the rolling stock is getting a bit past it, on this occasion it wasn't Eurotunnel's failure though and Eurostar was to blame, so that might limit the goodwill available.

Alas no - proper Indian - saving money wherever i can......

Unless you bought insurance you are stuffed. Read the terms on the ticket or website and they'll set out their liability limit, which will be less than you've been offered.
You certainly won't be able to claim for "consequential loss" such as lost hotel rooms etc.
Lesson - insurance is expensive untill you need it.

to be fair to them, it was only delayed, you could have travelled, just a bit later
Agreed, but the whole point in going first thing in the morning was to spend a day in France rather than a few hours before having to retire to the hotel. the point of me travelling in the middle of the might was that the kids would sleep through it
instead they were running about daft at 3 in the morning, which was fun, and an 8-9 hour journey turned into a 13 hour one
