Estate Agent selling fees.
Discussion
1 - 1.5% sounds ok ... depending on the length of the contract and if it's sole agency or sole selling....
FYI,
Check the contract for what type it is... sole agency means that if the house is sold by another agency during the time of the contract you must pay them the fees. But you can sell the house privately and not be liable for fees.
Sole selling means that however the house is sold you must pay them the fees.
I mention this as we had our last house for sale on a sole agency agreement, we decided in the end to part-exchange for a new build... The agency had the gaul to ask for their fee
For a while we thought we had to pay them, which was a good chunk of money ... checked the trading standards website and found that we were entitled to sell our house as we are not an agency. Had to write a few stern letters, mentioning legal action before they backed down...
