Focus RS mk2 - what to pay?

Hi all,

Just looking for some advice as to what is the expected cost on a mk2 Focus RS.
I'm looking to buy second hand and not really too worried about the spec, it will be a work horse and a daily driver. Does the Lux 1+2 make a big difference to cost second hand?

There is a local car to me I had a look at yesterday but has just basic spec, price seemed about the same as ones fully loaded.

Any advice most welcome.

Well, if you're not too worried about spec then get the basic model. I think most people would want the fully loaded model TBH & i'd say the difference in price would be around £1-1.5k between basic & fully loaded.
A couple of guys who have lux pack 1, have said they wish they had gone for lux pack 2 instead.
I personally would go for the best spec you can afford, when it comes to re-sale, a loaded model will always sell qucker & for more than a basic model, just my opinion.
As for colour, i really dont think it affects the price too much.

Thanks for that Gareth, I did think for the cost difference going the Lux 2 route would be best.
Having looked around on here the base model car I checked out yesterday does seem very overpriced. However, it is handy
I think it will be green or white - not just 100% sure on the blue, obviously just personal taste.
Anyone sold one recently?

Well, dont rule out the blue straight away, i got a blue one & you see one in the flesh, not quite as in your face or look at me, which is ok if thats what you want!!
Also, the rarest colour, which could work out either way, worth more for rarity value or less as the colour no one wants!

Something else to consider - many with lux pack 2 have regretted not just having pack 1 - as it has a better stereo.

It's got a 6 cd changer .. and is also DAB.

If I remember right the pack 2 car is not DAB and as such will be of no use as a radio in 2 years time when they turn off the signal to analog.

No date has been set for FM or AM switch-off (it's not like analogue TV). Earliest is expected 2017, more likely 2020. In all likelihood, DAB will be switched off before FM and AM because the UK is going to move to DAB+ and the majority of existing DAB receivers cannot receive DAB+ including the SONY unit in the RS. 6CD changer is nice, but then again, why not buy an external hard disk and plug it into the USB port...? I have a 320GB drive that cost £50 and will hold well over 2000 hours of MP3s at 320kbit/s (ie: high quality). It's a no-brainer to take the Blaupunkt Nav unless you want DAB only stations...
