Evening north of the border people.

I need a nice hotel within a taxi ride of the coin exchange, 4 or 5 star.

Cheers smile

I assume you mean Corn Exchange.

If you're happy with being a taxi ride away then pretty much any city centre hotel will be within that (rough) radius.

Sheraton, Caledonian Hilton, Balmoral, The Bonham, The Howard, etc.

Bring her along. hehe

Just remember that when they tell you it's time for the Gay Gordons it's a dance, not a statement of fact. hehe

Not really what you'd call handy but The Glasshouse is probably a ten minute cab ride away.

Cheers,

I'd agree with that, it would be a shame to visit Edinburgh and not stay in the centre. The Scotsman is good also, just across the bridge from the Balmoral.

Stay in the centre. The Corn Exchange is in Slateford and it's a ste part of town (unless you're a Hibby) - I lived next door for two months.

Definitely need to organise beers.

ETA Of course! Fluff's right. It's the weekend of the EdinWedding.

(Sorry Ian, I'm just ste with dates biggrin)

Nosebleed you say? Pah! We're positively starved of oxygen up here.

I'm sure I could err, 'nip' down the road for a catch-up.

Hi Charlie, I was going to email you and T later on with a few hotels to try. Glasshouse is highy recomended, as is the Balmoral and Scotsman, though they are all the opposite end of Princes Street, there is a Hilton at the west end of Princes Street that I have heard good things about. Then there are a number of Holiday/Travel/Premier inn/lodge type things, but as you say 4/5 star they will most def be counted out. You could always try this site as it has a wide variety, used in conjunction with trip advisor it should be good.

Tigerlily is nice if you fancy a bit of bling … always goes down well with wives and girlfriends. (Disclaimer: my company designed it, might be a bit biased.)

I’ll second The Glasshouse as well. Far and away the nicest hotel in town. It lacks a restaurant of any sort, which forces you to check out more interesting places to eat. Edinburgh is one of the best cities in the UK for dining out, so that’s not a bad thing!
