ok, i know nothing about USD, BPS and all the other three letter acronyms that appear on the box of the modem which I have....but i have broken clip that hold the cable into the modem in the laptop. the cable is currently being held in place by sellotape and i would dearly like a new cable. it is very thin and has four little prongs that go into the modem, the other end fits into the telephone socket. Right thats the essay over, can anyone find me a replacement. I have looked on amazon.co.uk but nothing looks suitable.

Try www.smcdirect.co.uk/ they may be able to supply the cable as it sounds like it of the dongle variety.
Or www.sitecom.com are the makers and have a list of suppliers.

Sounds like a PCMCIA card. credit card sized bit of kit that slides into a laptop. Try the links i gave as they may be able to get one direct mate.

That's a standard BT telephone plug.

excellent i'll call the smcdirect people in the morning! and theres a computers forum too, wow, if PH had an online grocery store too there would be no need to go outside at all save to drive somewhere for the sheer fun of it!
