Chimaera/Griff outer seat belt mounts help needed
Discussion
I have had my outriggers replaced but at the moment they are only tacked in place and i will be lowering the body back on to mark up exactly where to drill all the mounting holes and to weld the captive nuts and seat belt mountings.
As my outriggers were in such a state i didnt have anything left of my outer seatbelt mounts to copy.
If anyone can provide me with some close up pics, sketches, dimensions and ideas i will be grateful thanks.

Hi Derek, can't you use the holes in the sills on the body to line up the locations on the outriggers?
Thats the plan for most of the holes but the seat belts locate to a bracket welded to the outrigger tube. Mine just ripped away when i attemted to remove the seatbelt bolts!Apologies for stealing other peoples photos, but its quicker than uploading my own
Picture1 below is the outside seatbelt mounting point for early cars and picture2 is for later cars. BUT, I know there was no exact science when locating the early type because I compared measurements with someone else and they were way different. Mine is a 1992 car BTW
Even your own measurements are very difficult though. I measured all mine before cutting the outriggers off, and when I marked up where they were supposed to be it was obvious they were miles out.
In the end we did it by guestimate and measurement. The guestimate turned out to be spot on whereas the one we measured much more was about 10mm out when we dropped the body back down so I cut out a bit of the GRP and a slot in the carpet to make it fit. So what, its a thousand times better now than it was before I started and 100 times better than it left the factory looking at the quality of the welds.
The moral here is don't get too hung up on measurements, things flex and shift as you cut and weld and you can probably do just as good job by eye as you can measuring it.
One hint for you: Mark every piece IN/LEFT/UP or whatever, then tack it and look at it 5 times before welding it. We welded one bracket on back to front (nut on the outside) before either of us realised we'd done it and had to grind it back off and remake the whole bloody thing

Thanks.
It was looking at some old pics that confused me as some chassis had the elevated bracket and some the threaded tube. Now it seems some have both for the roll bar and seatbelt.
As my outriggers were so bad i wasnt sure what was what.
I will drop the body back tomorrow for the dummy fit and work out whats required.
I dont think i need the factory type anti-roll bar mount as i have the TR lane bar which fits to the corner bracket.

most of the ones I've seen are tapped straight through the tubes.
