Discussion
Anyone have links as I have read before that you are meant to get a like for like car if you are none fault.. I seem to remember
some people on PH mentioning some hefty £40,000 car hire bills
Only ask as my insurance company have said the 3rd parties insurance will not cover the cost of a hired Murci ?

Has anyone had similar dealings ??

I see a rocky road for companies offering like for like exchange on top end cars!. The insurance companies do not like it and I've heard of cars being written off because the insurance companies forsee huge hire cost's.
Mark my word's these companies will not be there for much longer!.

I then promptly crashed that one as well so was on to SL number 3!
t lolI should mention the other party threw up a real stink and tried to dispute the claim.
You will have to put up with a few calls and statements to solicitors as it usually goes to court. It didn't get that far in the end for me as they gave in, but it did drag on for a year before it was all sorted.
As I mentioned, the service provided is excellent and as hassle free as possible but be prepared to help them out afterwards.
I guess for a free replacement Lambo/Ferrari or whatever it is a small price to pay.

Do you really need a Murci (or any other exotic car) to get around, while the car is repaired?
We all pay through increased insurance premiums for this type of nonsense. Sooner this area of business is legislated out, the better.
Yes - insurance is there to put you back in the position you were in before the incident occured.... Whethere it's a Fiat 126 or a Ferrari 599 .... If the company expect lots of 3rd party costs they should settle claims quickly or write off the car.We all pay through increased insurance premiums for this type of nonsense. I heard tell of charges of circa £1600 per day on a RR (can't remeber the model, although I did see it) that's £11200 per week and this car was on hire for 8-9 weeks, that's over 100k.
From a business point of view that must be great it would cover I would have thought all depreciation and finanace for a couple of years so any other hire is just bunce.
As has been said we all end up picking up the tab for this so I can't see it's a good thing, however if my Lambo was in for repair I'd want something half reasonable while I awaited return but i wouldn't expect the third parties insurance company to get raped in the process.

I do agree with the above statement.
However…. I work flippin hard to be able to keep the car I have. And I can't wait for the better weather to arrive so I can blast the cob webs out of it (and me!!).
I would hate some idiot to crash in to me early in the season, forcing me to sit back and watch the weeks / months go by when I can't enjoy what I work my bo**ox off all year for!
