Parking in Manchester city centre - Saturday afternoon?
Discussion
If the general chaos and ridicule of the current snow ends within a week, I'm planning to go to Manchester to see a mate. Question is where to park as we're meeting near Picc station. Is there anywhere free or cheap for the full afternoon/evening as I'll be arriving at 12:00 ish? Of course it isn't very PH, but would I just be better getting a train from Nottingham?

There's loads of NCP and other paying car parks round there. Just drive to Picc and you'll see plenty of places to stick the car.
You'll struggle to get a free park for the day. It's easy enough in the car but I'd take the train. Less hassle overall plus you can have a pint or two if needs be.

There's a few places off the north side of Great Ancoats street that are quite cheap (Addington St and surrounding roads)- park on a bit of waste ground, give the friendly Moldovan gentleman a few quid and you're away. There's an NCP multi storey nearby off red lion street/turner street which will cost a bit more.

I know somewhere really good (well used to be havent used it in a while), its the underground car park of a student accomdation building but its a pay and display public carpark, bit of a walk into town (not that far though) let me see if i can find the post code.
Its under this building - http://www.mcrstudents.com/manchester-student-vill...
Manchester Student Village, iirc it was about 5 pounds for 24hours last time i used it (was about a year ago so it may have gone up)
ETA - http://www.mcrstudents.com/manchester-student-vill...
£5.50 for 24hours seems very reasonable to me, including the fact they have a security guard patrolling.
