you can make more room in there if you cut the servo mount brackets off.
You also need to consider how you will get the cylinder back out as it will need to be seviced.
My site has photos of where mine is mounted but also has pics of access holes to that front sidepod area.
These consist of watertight bulkhead 'Portholes' (as used in sailing dinghys) fitted in the front face of the wheel arch. These may be just big enough to get the cylinder in an out.
