I've got a young apprentice that works for me, a good enough lad if a little dim, the history is that his parents live fairly close to me and when I took him on the deal was that I would give him a lift to work and back every day but he had to work my hours for a flat days pay, so he often has to sit around for an hour or so waiting in the evening. So last night I left for home at 4 as the snow was coming down hard and I knew if I hung on it would probably take a couple of hours at least to get home this meant he got an early finish.

However in his youthfull logic he realised that if I was snowed in this morning he'd get a day off, about 7 oclock last night this was the idea he came up with!!!!

The flaw however in his plan was that I'd got home and gone round the pub, I had my car keys on me and a shovel in the boot so it took all of 30 seconds to get in and he's now just getting into his 3rd hour of clearing the snow in the yard at work with a spoon and yes it's coming down hard again while I sit at my warm desk watching him on the CCTV!

Is it just me who can't see the pic in the OP? Going to check on the phone. Might be blocked by work!

I'll give him some credit the "snow bricks" were superbly made having been molded in a washing up bowl!

All I can think about now is how that would have made about 1/4 of an igloo.
A bit more effort and he could have had an igloo instead. How much better would that have been?!

Reminds me of a very old "Roger the Dodger" cartoon from my youth. If I remember correctly he did all the windows, but not the door. He was scuppered when the post was delivered, and had to go to school.

With our posties, it's not a realistic situation, but it was in the Beano about 20 years ago...

Oh he's promoted alright ! As he has obviously got a liking for snow he's done a sterling job of clearing the yard, he's now chief snow shoveler.
