Peter Smiths Festival of......

........well not much really 
I know they are a valued advertiser on here, but I hope this can be seen as constructive criticism and not a cheap dig
Well I popped over to Peter Smiths on Sunday following the promotion on here of 'The Festival of Speed' along with my usual 'on road' sparring partner, and what an anti-climax, it didn't really start well due to the lack of parking space due to the forecort being used to store their part ex jalopies
if I was them I'd have hid old Vectra's and Mercs round the back for the weekend 
Then you go in search of the main attaction the TVR Typhon and it was there, shame TVR have painted it such a pants colour but I can't blame Peter Smith for that, but he could have unlocked it
Then I'm guessing it was parked next to the 'new' Elise but as the only difference appears to be the engine and the engine cover was shut so I'll have to take their word for it
The old F1 was there, and a 2 seat Tuscan racer, but I'd rather see these racing round Donington.
Other than that it looked like a normal Sunday for them, they did have quite a bit of stock, but this gives the problem of everything being parked to close to walls or each other for you to get round and have a proper look, and the T350 in any form was conspicuous by it's absence
In all C- and just like the stock answer on all my old school reports.....could try harder.
The drive home was fun though, it always amazes me how quiet the A50 is and I bet the middle lane numpty is still in shock after being blitzed on either side by our *5*mph convoy
and 
to the lad in the Scooby who joined us for the fun

I was there too, & if anyone from Peter Smith Sportscars happens to stumble across this they would do well to gain a better understanding of the definition of 'open day', prior to their next attempt at such an event!
Alternatively, they could pop along to one of the other dealers in the region who have been doing this sort of thing for years!!!!!!

Not even for years.
We went to the Racing Green open day and that is what I call open, both the Sagaris and the Typhon (have to disagree about the colour Raceboy if it was the same car
) were unlocked and we were all allowed to crawl around and in them both. I didn't go out there but I believe the workshops were available for a look around too and there were plenty of staff around offering coffee and stuff, although no food as we were there on the Saturday.
I'm glad I didn't hang around in Derby for the weekend if that was all there was.
When I first picked up my Honda, I was invited to a Honda open day. Free food and drink, formula one cars, powerboats, racing bikes, suzi perry, penny mallory, chairman of honda, band, interviews on a PA system, fully open workshop to wander around etc... That was more like it

It was a very very dark green metallic, which gave it a 'not quite as mean look' as painting it black, but did do a good job of hiding the large panel gaps
And you'd got more chance of getting in the F1 car than the TVR,
Reflex Charcoal. Green/Purple flip. Both shades very dark though 
. I think it looks pretty awesome myself 
.I got there just before lunch and the Typhon was unlocked, though there were so many scroates around i'm not surprised they locked it sharpish!!
I'd agree with raceboy on the general finish - and inside wasn't a lot better - the gear changer felt like a 1980's arcade game paddle it had that much 'wobble' in it. I guess they took more than the gearbox out before delivery!!
