Pregnancy - No Longer A Mans Choice
Discussion
Following on from quite a few threads recently that have skirted around the edges of this topic - I'm interested to know, how many of you were actually involved in the planning of your child?
It strikes me that many women now seem to go all out to get pregnant, no matter what the costs. Be that because they are 40 and their biological clock is ticking, or because they are 19 and the state will fund their lifestyle or simple selfish desire for a child and f
k the consequences for poor t
t who is going to pay for it. Years ago, being a single mother was societal death, these days that kind os stigma is (rightly) long gone, meaning the consent to procreate seems to be optional.
What happened to 'family planning' and consensual baby making. It strikes me, even from a female perspective that the men folk are getting kinda screwed over by this new baby hungry generation of women.
(I'm 100% sure the women of ph don't fall into this category btw before anyone takes offence!

) It was a joint decision with hubby and I. We'd never discussed the kids or no kids before marrying but a couple of years ago I did start to think about it more so I asked hubby his feelings, he was open to the thought. We didn't do anything straight away due to work circumstances etc but 18 months on we both still felt good about the idea and we are due our first soon.
Had he said absolutely no way I would have been ok with that as I would only have wanted kids if he did to. I would have just taken on more pets instead
If he had approached me first I again would prob have said yes as I never said never but I neither had I felt this overwhelming biological clock ticking that many talk about, not until we had both agreed then I did start thinking more about it.

Men need to consider the consequences of having sex a lot more now days. I know if I wasn't married, I would be acting like women used to act, i.e. relationship sex only.
Having lived in many countries, it doesn't help that British women seem to be almost predatory in the way they go after men and view relationships like transactions. I realise that it is a huge generalisation, but if one were to accept a general view, I have never seen anything like British women in the Americas, Asia, Australia or Africa, it's frightful

As a man, surely you either want a child, you don't mind either way, or you actively don't want one. If you fall into the latter category, it's not that difficult to avoid having one really, is it?
I am in the latter, and I am going to get the snip soon to make even more sure, as well as the usual precatutions, that I will never, ever father a child.Ozone said:
Herbie, are you looking for a sperm donor.....?!
I don't think men have ever had much choice.
No. I just don't believe in bringing children into a world where they are not both desired equally by both parents, who should be in a financial position to support the child without (ideally, I realise in some cases it's genuinely not possible) state support. And from what I can see it's less and less about the above these days and more about when "I wann that one..." strikes.I don't think men have ever had much choice.
