Who has stolen them all?

I went looking for one yesterday to grit the path down the street.

After a bit of looking around the local area I called the council.

I was told they couldn't tell me.

where have they all gone? I know I used to go to the local bin as a child, but there doesn't seem to be one.

In Bristol, the city council have produced an interactive Google Maps thingyawotsit to help you locate your nearest bin.

Perhaps check out your council website to see if they have one?

The one down the road from my office is empty. It hasn't been filled since we used the grit out of it last year.

One appeared outside my house about 2 weeks before Christmas. No grit in it, just the bin!

Global warming.

The government don't think we need them any more. It also has the fringe benefit that they can employ more people or inflate their pay packets.

Everyone's a winner!

Checked the council website.

There are 2 bins on the street next to me on the map.

Unless they have invented special invisible ones, they don't exist.

I've not been able to drive out of my road (steep hill) for four days. I chanced my luck and rang the council and requested that it be gritted. "I'll pass it on sir" (code for no chance)

I then asked if we could have a grit bin back, seeing as the council removed our two grit bins. "It'll take six weeks for an engineer to come out and assess the situation, then four weeks for a report, hen you might get one". So that'll be in time for summer then!
