A watch that not matter what circumstance you have bought/been bought and will keep forever. More importantly, a default everyday one, one you can wear whilst gardening and go out on?

A friend has some very nice watches, (a slim patek phillip, and a rolox) but very rarely lets them out of their boxes. I've got a nice Omega Seamaster, and i dont wear anything else. It IS my best watch and i dont have anything else thats working at the moment. However i just can't see me needing any other watch.

Mine is 9 years old now and still in mint condition, they have also gone up in value (about 500 notes) since purchase. Now i know 1k + on a watch is not to be sniffed at, but in the world of watches its pretty paultry. Good place to start as a benchmark though....

Yep... My Planet Ocean.. Bought second hand for around £1k... Wil always be worth that, maybe slightly moresmile But its the watch I choose for almost every occassion..

Day to day I wear a Speedmaster date... It's getting a few marks, but it is very acurate... In fact I've been checking and over the last month it hasn't varied by more than 2 seconds.. Which for an auto is bloody brilliant...
Because I wear a Casio Quartz as my daily watch the automatics often stop. I find that for the first day or so they are a little fast, maybe 5 or even 10 seconds in a day, but if worn regularly settle down to being pretty much as accurate as yours.

ETA - sorry, off topic. redface

Tag Heuer Aquaracer. Worn everyday and bought with money my Nan left me when I was about 2. After about 25 years of interest the small sum had grown to about £150 but the Bradford and Bingley buy out on the account made up the rest.

Not the best watch in the world, but it will stay with me forever.

My TAG 2000 Series that my parents bought me for my 18th is clearly a keeper, as is my dad's refurbished 1976 Omega Geneve that they gave me for my 30th last year.

Neither of them are worth much now but both have huge sentimental value and as such I'll never part with them.

I wear both regularly but have a G-Shock and a Swatch chrono for mountain biking or other potentially damaging activites!

Those are both lovely looking watches yes

I've owned this for about 8 years now and still wear it nearly everyday regardless of what I'm doing.

Hopefully the 'keepers' will turn into 'lifers' at some stage - I've had this since 2000 and only recently gave it a break from my wrist. It's the one I'd most like to keep - due to sentimentality rather than any technical/aesthetic reason. (Pinched pio)

I've got a mid 1980s Rolex Date. Its small, and not especially flashy but I keep coming back to it - sometimes after 12 months of non-use. It was my 21st birthday gift and was my dads before that, so I doubt I'll ever sell it!

Before I got into watches it never left my wrist - it's seen some sights wink

My Rolex GMT Master. Bought in '98 and although it doesn't get much wrist time these days (feels a bit small), I intend to pass it on to my son one day.

Thats a very nice watch. I have never felt comfortable wearing a model like that, which is annoying as they tend to be much more tactile then the divers style.

Its a very simple watch, but has an interesting single movement that can handle a different time zone on each side. Very ,very few people notice it, which is perfect for mesmile....

Can't see me ever selling the Seiko Chronograph I bought for my 18th, my first 'nice' watch.
Other than that, the only current one I can't see me selling (have plans to sell the Seiko mini-Monster and possibly the Seamaster) is the Speedmaster.

I'm wearing it now and I absolutely love it. smile
