X-Type tyre sizes please.
Discussion
I'm set on buying a 3.0 AWD X-Type later this year.
As I have done in the past, it would be my intention to buy a second set of wheels and have winter tyres fitted. I am just pricing up a few different options.
Most of the X-Types I like are the sport models with 18" Tyres. Can you confirm what the standard tyre size is for these 18" wheels?
Also;
What is the smallest wheel/tyre size Jaguar do for the X-Type. I understand the 17" wheels are fitted with 225/45/17 Tyres but do they do a 16" option? Smaller the better, as far as winter tyres are concerned.

For winter tyres just get a set of Mk3 Mondeo steel wheels (6.5J x 16") and a set of 205/55/16 tyres (you'll need different wheel nuts for the steels). Jaguar don't recommend chains on anything other than 16's. I think because of clearance issues behind the wheel.
If you wait till the summer you will get a set of steels at a scrap yard or ebay, alternative is about £60 each from Ford.

Hi. As I have the winter tyres on from Nov-March, I'm going to get a second set of Jaguar alloys that I don't mind scratching or damaging a bit. I couldn't stand the look of the car being on steelies for 5 months If you wait till the summer you will get a set of steels at a scrap yard or ebay, alternative is about £60 each from Ford.

If you can afford winter tyres, its a very good idea to have them, but if like me you cant, let me show you these. Discovered them recently in the last weeks snow and they briliant.As I have done in the past, it would be my intention to buy a second set of wheels and have winter tyres fitted. I have no connection with the company, was just totally knocked off my feet by how somthing that looks so stupid can work so well. I want to tell the world about it.
Took me 1 minute per side to fit, and 30 secs per side to take off. Given that down south the snow is deep and unpassable one minute and melted away to slush the next, this is far better than the chain alternative that take much longer to fit and removed and so much cheaper and easier than a spare set of winter tyres for the week of snow we somtimes get here.
Keep them in the boot, if its gets tricky, slip em on (the rear wheels on my rear wheel drive car), job done.
Found this on youtube, there the ones.
