hi all, i've been offered a great deal for a new freelander sport le manual diesel.it would be my first 4x4.

any advice/views on whether they are a good idea for 20,000 miles a year on a and b roads mainly.the alternative is a 170bhp vw tiguan.

thanks.

We have a FL2 Diesel SE which is a fantastic car, absolutely fab in the snow, very comfortable on road, reliable etc. We looked at Tiguans too but they are so bland with no off road prowess so we ruled them out. We were torn between Touareg and FL - FL was a better size for town and better in the mud so we wnet for that.

As far as I can tell, the Sport LE has cosmetic changes and looks smart however I would but an HSE used if that's an option? You'll get a top of the range car for less than a new LE.
