Hi peeps

Just want to get an opinion on something regarding this vehicle.. I understand its a concept but have a look at Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 5th picture down..

The driveshaft, is this really an acceptable way of routing it? Surely articulation would bring the shaft "almost" verticle whislt trying to pull it from the hub/gearbox.

Also day to day running would it not wear out really quick? And do you think it's just a concept bodge to generate some pictures?

It does look acute, but there's an element of optical illusion going on, because of the CV joint boot folding how it is. If you can imagine the actual shaft within, the angle would be less acute, and beyond that, a CV joint can handle much more acute angles than a UV joint. The truck's wheel is here completely off the ground, and so in a real-life situation, such a wheel (and in turn halfshaft) would not be subject to much traction or exertion anyway, until the wheel hit something with sufficient pressure, and hece a reduced halfshaft angle. Does go to show how competent the vehicle must be, with such good suspension range - I can't bring myself to use the expression 'articulation' for anything other than a live beam.

That truck is fab! Simply love it and want one. It's no concept either but is
for sale just as per the picks in the link. It's built tough and I think that pic doesn't really reflect how it works
very well. Check out the Motor Trend website. They have a great review of it on their. biggrin

It's on a ramp, ergo the suspension is at full droop, of course the shaft is going to have an acute angle.
