Car covers - who and what do you guys recommend?

For an X308 and will be for outdoors use so will need to be waterproof but preferably breathable.

Don't mind spending a bit of money but nothing mental cost wise.
Ideally very easy to fit as well without too many faffing tapes and ropes etc.

Had an expensive car cover once, the local cats loved it, used it as their nail scratch pad. When their nails go through the fabric, it scratches the roof.

Maybe ask if the covers are cat repellent?

I have auto pyjamas for my X300. Fits OK.
The problem with using a cover though is that all the dirt that is on your car when you put the cover on gets onto the cover and ground into your paint work.
I don't use it anymore.
Since I had the pre-heater fitted the windows clear very quickly anyway.

The best policy to to have a garage.
Only I lost my garage slot for the XJ when I bought the XK150 which needs it more. MrsB8HEX didn't want to give up her garage place :-(

I had a Jaguar XK fitted cover which I didn't use for long as it became clear to me that safe fitting and removal of the cover required two people to ensure that the cover was never dragged across the paintwork.

The car would only be covered after being cleaned but it's a good point re removal of the cover.

I've stopped using my cover. The slightest amount of condensation caused the cover to stick to the car, and tear the inner lining.

I'd much rather de-ice the lock and wait for the car to defrost while having a cup of tea, it's easier.

I am not sure that an outdoor cover achieves a lot, because moisture is generated and held against the car. I would try and get some kind of carport rigged up if you can so the air can get at it, or use something very light and loose.

Amongst other stuff I got a Moltex cover for my X308 XJR here http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/acatalog/OutdoorC... It is a great car cover when I can be bothered fitting it! I have not had moisture or cat problems luckily, but did have to get a couple of extra straps for the boot and bonnet as the wind is a right pain in the backside. Agree with the comments re. only using the cover on a clean car.
