My M5 and Corsa (not your average chav corsa)

Being relitavly new round here i thought id put a few pictures of my cars up, my everyday car first up, e39 m5, i know it needs some original wheels so please dont abuse me too much, currently looking for a set:
spec:
pipercross panel filters
JAMsport remap
supersprint X-pipe
other than thats its pretty standard
and to prove a 400bhp v8 can be "economical":
and then my corsa "track" car:
spec:
1.6 16v x16xe engine
bilstein pss9's
atb diff
vectra v6 brakes (have alcons to fit)
full cage
45mm taper tb's
dk engineering crank
seinz rods
woosner pistons
JAMsport ported head
one piece valves
Newman cams
Pace dry pump kit
gotech mfi pro x ecu and loom
not fully mapped yet but aiming for 230bhp from it

Genuine question here and I'm not taking the piss, but why the Corsa as a starting point for a trackday car? Surely there are better vehicles to modifiy for this kind of thing in the same budget are there not?
Other than that, love the M5, the older shapes are much better looking than the newer ones!

been a long build, started in 2006, since then its done 500miles, and most of that on the rolling road, as soon as i get some time ill get the map finished and get it back on track, aim for a track day in feb this year... getting married, buying a house etc all took its toll on the wallet hence i had to slow down with it, then i bought a clio 172 and used that on track a bit so i was sidetracked.

why the corsa, some times i ask myself that, especially having owned a fair spec clio 172. reason why is i had the car as a fast road car with the throttle bodies and management etc, so i decided to keep it as a trac kcar, with the money gone in to it its too late to turn around and start something else. to be fair when it was on track wit hthe older spec it was great, much better than expected, so with more power, less weight, better suspension and tyres it "should" be even better.Other than that, love the M5, the older shapes are much better looking than the newer ones!

My 530i rarely does 34mpg. A M5 I imagine would average 20-25mpg.
I do have a hankering for a M5 like this though, very nice
How are the Bilsteins on the Corsa? Friend of mine has recently fitted an LSD to his Corsa B and he reckons it's made a massive difference. Have told him he needs to get some better suspension (currently runs Spax I think) but he seems to spend all his money on the engine.. It's a nice car though, not stripped like yours but probably similar straightline performance.

i have had a few different set up on it, from koni dampers and springs, avo coil overs and the pss9's the pss9's win all round with it, but they do come at a price, better than spending £1300ish on engine parts tho IMO. the diff really transforms the cars.

I'll have another go at him soon..!
