engine, year of manufacture

I need help please, Vauxhall themselves are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!
I need to find out the date of manufacture of a 16v 'red top' engine, can someone show me where to find the details?

If you have the 2.2 litre engine (as in the VX220 N/A), you will find the number on the forward face of the oil filter housing.

If the engine is the 2.0 litre turbo lump I can't help, but www.vx220.org.uk website should be able to help if it is up and running later this week....

No, it's the XE 16v 'red top' we've got the engine number, but the SVA people need some sort of 'official' paperwork saying when it was built.

Just ring Vauxhall customer services in Luton, they can check with technical department and let you know.
