Advice on 325d please
Discussion
I'm looking to change my motor. I’ve currently got a 2003 4.2 Jaguar XJR and whilst it's great car, it does come with big, big bills and I want something newer, with a hint of practicality and something that the wife can/will drive. So, I’ve decided on a 2008-9 325d touring Sport. I'm looking to spend £25k and would like to know the following:
1. Can I easily have the car upgraded to 330d output, is it essentially the same engine, just different software?
2. Running costs on 30,000 miles per year? (I’m UK based)
3. What should I particularly look for in the specification? I not too bothered auto or manual, but it must have leather and Bluetooth. Is there anything else that’s a must?
Thanks. Paul

Well...not owning a 325 or 330d I can't help with most of the bits your after but as for remapping to achieve 330d bhp / torque then there 45bhp difference (there abouts) so I would think you'd easily be able to match a 330d in a 325d. Would it not be worth just getting a 330d in the first place or is there a big difference in purchase price?
I have 325d M Sport bought brand new in Feb 09, now has 45,000 miles on it, average 1000 miles a week and has not missed a beat. Although I would consider a D3 if your in the market as they have more torque, rev slightly higher and get even better fuel consumption and residuals are better too.
I average around 48-50 mpg although since new only used V-power diesel and BMW Synter have said this will help with performance and fuel consumption.
If I could go back when I bought it I would have bought a 2 ltr twin turbo D3 for the same money.
