The problem is that conventional paints seem porous to styrene vapours. I don't want another car that smells like a cheap GRP cold water tank!

Lotus don't stink so perhaps they are epoxy?

Is this a car that you are making panels for yourself? If not,I'm wondering if you are super sensitive to styrene because I work woth GRP cars all day and don't pick up any styrene pongs from them.

I use 'stonechip' paint which is perhaps a bitumastic type paint and have not noticed any smell.

I would take it back to the original owner and get your money back wink

Do you smell this when it is cold or only when it has got very hot. When very, very hot I may be able to smell just a trace but otherwise not. I used the 'standard' Sperex (spelling?) spray paint on all my panels (everywhere, not just where it can be seen).

The problem is mainly with brand new GRP. Styrene is wafting into the laundry room from garage. Resin will have to go into the greenhouse.......
