Hi Guys,

Unfortunately Z4MC has to go in the next 3 months as I will be driving allot more miles and need something a little more practical and that I will be able to sell in a couple of years with 60k on the clock.

This is my second Z4MC, I had the Roadster before, so have owned Z4M's since 06 and clocked up over 40k miles between the 2.

I would be really interested in your view/comments and recommendations based on the cars I am looking to change into and what you think i will get for my car.

My short list at the moment is a 335d/335i Coupe and 335d Touring as I believe these will be more comfortable, seat 4 & carry luggage when needed, fairly econominal, and although not as fun as MC will be pretty quick especially after a chip.

My budget is up to 25k.. what do you think, any other cars i should be looking at?

Also what should i expect to get trading my car in... Spec below.

Z4MC Silver with Red Leather - great condition
27k - next service 8k away
All extra's bar full leather, sun protection and folding mirrors.

Thanks in advance.

Ben

I would imagine £19/£20k at trade.
If I sold mine, I'd have this:

No idea about your next car choice (although the 335d sounds sensible) but I'd be surprised if you get offered any more than £18k - £19k on trade in.

Sorry you're having to let her go.

I've made the same sad decision and so have spent a little time touting mine around.

Given what I've been offered for mine as a trade in, I'd guess you could get approx £20k from a BMW main dealer and a grand or so less from a non-BMW dealer.

It all seems to depend what you're trading against, how you're paying (finance or cash) and how much "profit" they've got in whatever they're selling you.

Why not keep it, due to doing more miles and struggling in the snow last week:

I have bought a lovely old Volvo - 1 owner 66k and just over a grand, my MC will become a garage queen until the sun comes out again!

I think you already have the right car on your short list - 335d. 135i coupe might be worth a look but I'm not sure it's any more economical than your current car.

I was in exactly the same situation back in june... i needed 4 doors more than anything else. Having looked at the 335d/330d/merc 320/220cdi...guess what i opted for!...Alpina D3 biturbo...
343 bhp was proving to be pretty much useless on these congested/pot hole ridden roads. The alpina has just enough power and looks amazing(with 19" dynamics)...its also very good fun on the snow!!
returns 46 mpg and it'll give you 600 mils on a full tank!
The Z4MC was a fabulous car...but just proved a little too hardcore for my everyday usage...

Definately need to think long and hard about a second car.. needs to be reliable, comfortable, cheap to run, good enough to rock up to meetings in and less than £3k. Thought about a VW Passat.. any other ideas?

scratchchin

For the criteria, Passat would be my first choice too. Perhaps an E39 5 series or A3/A4?

your deffo looking at sub 20k trade, i tryed a few traders before xmas on mine and all were about 20k, mines done less miles and newer... unless the markets picked up in the last few weeks of course wink

335d - drove one, bloody quick but i just can't get on with a diesel/auto situtation, something just made me think i wouldn't spend 25k on one!

Anyone driven the Alpina D3 or D3 Bi Turbo would be interested in comparisons between the standard BM Diesels?
