MPG?

Handling?

Comfort?

Prices are pretty low and I have had someone approach me re part ex on my Z4 which I am trying to sell anyway. It would probably tide me over for the foreseeable if the price is right?

I had one for 2 years. Was a good car, very few issues with it & a nice drive. MPG is not it's strong point though. Low 20's was the norm, upto 30 on a long run with light foot. I dont think the AWD helps economy. Felt quick if the revs were kept high but the V6 doesnt put out much torque at low revs.
Overall I liked it a lot & now I have a 2.2d version.
Sport versions are quite sparton though, not much standard kit. It took me a while to find one that the first owner had specced up a bit.

30 on a run? That's terrible economy considering I can see 40 out of my Z4 on a run.

Hmm, might just have to give that one a miss I think.

I get 30 on a run from my 3.0l X Type Sport Manual. A 2.5l should be significantly better.

Parkers puts it at 29 combined.

If it's anything like the 2.5/3.0 Z4 economy then very little difference.

I'm going to take a look at it next week, take it for a drive and see what I think. It will probably only be a stop gap to ultimately getting the 530d I'm after.

I remember reading when the car was launched that the 2.5 was very much the weak link - all the weight and power loss of the 4WD without the torque and power of the 3.0 so it was little better than the 2.1 in performance and much worse on economy. I can believe that the 3.0 litre is no worse on fuel than the 2.5.

Contemporary road tests, IIRC, criticised the engine for lack of torque and uneven power delivery. Personally I'd give it a go and see what you think!

Dave

Cheers Dave, to be fair that's all I can do. It's only going to be a short termer anyway so can't really do any harm.
