Just Bought the wife one ...

After a bit of nagging I have given in and bought the wife a Mini - I always thought they was a bit small but she likes them
Its an 06 Cooper S JCW edition and feels pretty quick in dark blue - not sure of paint colour name

Any reason why you went for the R53? Im guessing you could have got an R56 for close to the same money, plus better fuel economy amongst other things

It was a good deal, and a few grand cheaper than the new model, she doesnt change her car often so in years to come wont matter that much - they seem to hold there money well

dont get it until tomorrow but I have driven it at speed on a rather slippy road and yes it does have LSD ( sales guy was not that impressed!) - I was really surprised and it was a lot better than I thought - handled well gripped well and had plenty of power - cant wait to get it home tomorrow !

Bought my wife a new R56 - ended up getting rid of it and re-buying another R53 as she thought it was a much nicer car. She said the R56 is too refined and polished making it not as 'fun'.

we're doing the same now, R56 - R53, although I do love our current car so it will be a hard act to follow - the noise the thing makes alone is fabulous!!

Someone will get a much loved car :-(

Always amuses me when people "upgrade" to the R56 The R53 is a better driver's car, R56 is for refinement and fuel economy (both of which are dull). I have to admit that the R56 is quicker though, in standard tune at least.

Ha ha, good idea for this years le mans !

spoke to WRR today about this years event - small group of us going down, but will prob not go in the mini ... its a bit bumpy and suffers badly on speed humps !

What ^^ said... its like the 993 vs 996, R53 and supercharger vs R56 and turbo, IMO the R53, much like the 993, wins the day.
