Hi all, we have a Ford KA3 and whilst the central locking works from the drivers side it will open reopen from the passenger side????

Any ideas before I take the door apart at the weekend?

Thanks
Steve

Do you mean the car will lock and unlock itself continually, We had this on our ka, open the passenger door and you will see where the wiring comes from the door into the car, unscrew the connector and make sure all the pins are clean and not corroded, spray with some wd40 and then dry incase water has got in, this was the problem with ours.

Hi Terry,

The car doesnt keep locking/unlocking, the central locking will lock the car from the drivers side but won't unlock it from the drivers side, you have to go round to the passenger side and unlock the car (drivers side will then unlock)
Thanks

Sorry steve for misreading, does the drivers lock turn all the way or does it stick, its common for the tumblers in the lock to bend and not allow you to turn the key fully, you can get the lock refurbed to use the same key.

Thanks for the reply

It does seem to turn the full way, as I said you can lock it from the drivers but cannot unlock it??????? When you try to unlock it from the drivers there is no sound from the lock or the mechanism at all

Thing is steve with them ford locks, any ford key will lock the car but not open it, my escort or fiesta key will lock our ka but not open it, same for the ka key it will lock the fiesta or escort but wont open them, so could still be damaged tumblers, could be electrical if so check them pins on the drivers door for bad or corroded connections where it passes through the body, just things to check before you take the door apart.

My wife's 2001 5 door Focus Zetec
has developed this problem too, can you tell me please where I should look on the Focus for this wiring connector?
Thanks.
