Has anyone on here driven an Enzo??
Discussion
Hi all,
As per the title really, has anyone been lucky enough to drive the Enzo? What's it like? Do you need to be Michael Schumacher to drive it or could my gran have a blast in it?
I know it's a random question but I have been kindly offered a drive in one and I don't know whether it would be an expensive mistake or the best time of my life! (I'm 24 by the way which should explain my hesitation).
Thanks in advance,
Adam

Yup, driven one.
Nope your gran couldn't just blast it (well having said that maybe your gran is an ex racer though....) but seriously even with traction fully engaged it is somewhat overpowered for the grip and handling available. This is not to say it handles badly or lacks grip, it's just got a huge amount of power to deploy and is setup quite twitchy.
When I had a play I was several seconds faster around brands in my 360CS than the Enzo as I couldn't commit in the same way, the line between grip and spin and speed of reactions required is very fine, great fun but deserves HUGE respect. Similar feel to trying to drive a Porsche CGT at the limit, just with even more power.
If you get the chance, go for it and just remember you don't HAVE to floor the throttle all time to enjoy the drive!

Yes. But not very much.
The basics are all very easy unlike, say, a Carrera GT, so you'll be able to pootle around quite amazingly relaxed. It doesn't feel as "muscular/torquey" as a Zonda for example, so when you open the throttle it really starts to GOOOO at higher revs (as opposed to straight away) and if you're being silly starts spinning up the rears as the revs shoot past 5000rpm. Like all modern Ferrari helms, at no point does the steering really ever tell you anything about anything but it IS very responsive. (not really relevant on the roads). When you go past 100mph it really does feel exceptionally well planted on the road - downforce. Haven't thrown it into corners.
Doesn't require "mastering" quite like a Carrera GT nor does it feel as scary. The big Porsche feels like it will NEVER understeer ever (at least to me) and takes "skills" to drive even slowly.
Have fun and don't just depress throttle pedal to floor - regardless of TC setting.
A few owners on here...they'll chime in.

Thanks for your replies guys. You're a lucky bunch of people having driven one! I doubt reverse parking will come into it
It's a big responsibility and also such an amazing opportunity that I dont know if I can turn it down.. Having never driven a car with more than 500bhp it will be a shock to the system and I guess I wanted to check whether they are easy to drive slowly or does it constantly encourage you to go faster and faster, like say the 360cs or gt3rs.. Being a massive petrolhead it's very difficult to refuse the offer, hence why I thought it would be wise to get the views from people who have experienced one first hand. I am conscious not to the next loser to prang one, however having said that I wouldnt have been offered the chance if the owner thought I was incapable. I would rather keep the location of the car secret, all I can say is it's not a red one!!

I have to totally disagree!
The Enzo is an incredibly easy car to drive, once you get used to the view it is a piece of cake What I mean by view is ie. Merging onto motorways is a real difficulty because of the LHD, the seating postion being so far to the back of the door, and the wing mirror being mounted on the wing. That said, on the track that is hardly an issue. On the track, keep it in race mode and you can't go wrong, just don't be overly familiar with the throttle pedal coming out of the corners, and be aware of the warm up cycle for carbon brakes. Turn in at low speeds is somewhat 'draggy' meaning it almost drags its arse around corners (anyone who has driven one, esp round town will know what I mean) but once over 30mphish it is fine.
Enjoy the experience and be sure to let us know how you got on!

Surely the owner will inform you of how to best drive the car?
