Afternoon.

I need to get a 4 year service for my V8V - but where?

The main dealer quotes looks very toppy although I assume that anything found (ex wear & tear) could be covered by the extended warranty - if of course I got it done before said warranty expires.

Does anyone have any experience of servicing in the South-east?

Thanks.

I know Rick is not in the south but he'll provide the best service outside the dealer network, mine (06 V8 Vantage) will going back next month. Last time stayed at very nice Hotel http://www.thefinessecollection.com/cathedralquart... and had a good meal and Rick do his stuff for less than a main dealer service. DMS details are here http://www.derbymotorservices.com/

Totally agree with V8V Man, it's not a bad drive up to there and easy to find.

Even with the cost of petrol and a hotel it still worked out tons cheaper.

If you have the extended warranty get to Rick before it expires and your own dealer can fix anything he finds on your return.

DMS gets heaps of praise in this forum, and it is all thoroughly deserved in my opinion.

I went up to Derby from London too. Rick lent me his car for a few hours, I drove up over the Peak district to Chatsworth House. Had a couple of hours there, picked up my car and was home in time for tea and scones

I am in London and use DMS, its a good drive up there and still cheaper than using a London dealer and the service is much better.
Actually i need to get up there next week!

hi all,

sorry to hijack this thread but i, also, have a 4 year service due soon. i live in Surrey but am very tempted to speak to Rick but i have a question about re-sale issues by not using AM dealers to service the car.

i have no doubt what-so-ever that Rick will do a good job and, probably, a better job that the official dealers.

My car is on a lease so it's possible that it'll have to go towards the end of the year and i wanted other's opinions on whether selling it would be easier or more lucrative if the servicing has been done by AM rather than an indie. or rather, how would having an indie's stamp in the service book affect the resale of the car?

please don't flame me for this question as i think it's valid as a lot of people still hold stock by the official stamp in a service booklet.

This is one question I asked Rick when I first used him, and he said to me there will always be people who only want to see an Aston Martin stamp in the service book and should be taken into consideration, When I recently spoke to my dealer about changing my car, I did not tell them straight away that rick had been looking after it, and when I did it did not make any difference to the trade in price, I wish Rick sold cars as i would much sooner deal with him, I also feel any body buying an Aston would carry out some research before buying and as such would soon come across his excellant reputation, so for me this would be a plus if i was looking at buying a car knowing that Rick had looked after it,

Completely agree with the above - most serious buyers of a second hand Aston would have done some research. Rick's name comes up so often (and always with very positive feedback), that it shouldn't harm the value. Given my own experiences with him, I'd actually see his name in the service book as a good thing...

We should persuade Rick to buy and sell Astons, warranties, finance etc. How about we all chip in with some equity and become shareholders?

How much do you need Rick?
