So saturday came....excellent, a mate and I were off to Gatwick qnd catching a plane to Chambrey and a connection to 3 valley's. Havent been skiing for two years due to work commitments. Get to the airport with loads of time to catch a 15:15 flight. Except an hour before it was due to leave it was put back to 17:00. Ok we can deal with that. So we wait and come 17:00 a new notice is posted to ask to wait.... So we do for another 20 odd minutes. Eventually, (circa 20:00), another post is placed telling us the flight is now 14:15, (Sunday), and they put us up in a hotel. Were told that coaches will transfer us back to the airport at 12:00.

At approx 13:00 the coaches arrive. We get to the airport to be told the flight is now 15:15 and so we wait. At approx. 17:00 we board the plane. Take off was around 17:40.

We get diverted to Grenoble. Spend 4 hours in Arrivals because they havent got any coaches and when they do get some they havent got any drivers.

We arrive at the hotel at 02:35 having been offered nothing in the way of a drink, not even water.

And then to cqp it all, second run of the day I tqke a fall and have buggered a ligament in my knee. Im now stuck in the hotel typing on a Frenchy keyboqrd, (hence spelling mistakes), and Im bored out of my fking head!!!!!!

What a bleedin holiday!!!!!!!

What a bummer. Out of interest, what insurance did you have? did you need a lift off the slope?

But... Whats the snow like?

I cant wait till next Friday :skiing smiley:

You can't ask that, or the thread will be moved to Holidays & Travel.

You have to stick to 'life is bolx' type comments to keep it here.

wink

Unlucky there, fella.

Our trip to France last month was "interesting" also. Eurotunnel closed due to snow/awful weather. Diverted to Dover, miles and miles of truckers.
Queued for almost 2 hours, missing our ferry - queued again for another hour, finally made it onto the ferry.
Swift progress was made once on the French soil.

If the worst thing you've got to moan about is how crap your skiing holiday is then life ain't that bad!

3 years ago I went on a last minute 4 day Christmas ski trip.

Plane delayed by 28hrs (missed 1 day of skiing)
BA lost all luggage of about 20 people including families with small children (ok if you're on a beach hol but on a ski trip it's a pain in the arse) and as there were no flights on Christmas day/Boxing day the stupid tts sent it out on the day I was coming home even though I asked them not to
Got a voicemail as I landed to say my Grandfather had passed away frown

The best bit was everyone else being really lovely and rallying around to dress me and my son in ill-fitting bad fashion ski-wear

Last year went to Serre Chevalier via Grenoble and SHMBO & me had the daughter in law and 2 yr old grandson (meeting son there). Left my wallet (and driving licence) in the pub the night before so had to call DVLA and spent over an hour flaffing around in the hire car office. Set off late, the pass was closed due to snow and we had to take the long (3 hour)route. Forgot the satnav was sent to shortest route so when I reset it for the Frejus Tunnel it really did take the short route - back roads over the mountains, no other cars and treacherous At one point we slid off the road and in to a snow bank which luckily had armco in the middle or we'd have gone over the edge & died. We were all completely stting ourselves. Funny, but me and the wife are gaoing alone this year.

Last September going to Dortmund on a 6.30am Luton flight wife went to sleep on the M4 and I must of went in to autopilot mode 'cos I was aware of the M25 signs for Stanstead!! Missed the bloody turning, missed the flight and ended going to Berlin 7 hours later with a 4 hour drive the other side.

Back to skiing - we've 3 sons and have been skking for 12 years - the tally so far is one dislocated kneecap, one trip to the medic centre for passing out after a fall, one broken rib, one concusion, one broken leg and one torn cruciate ligamament. THen to cap it the wife broke her leg walking in Chamonix in June.

It's the sort of thing where you've got to laugh really hehe

It's a bit like the time I was heading up to Cadwell for an evening track day, the day before my first ever race day. Landy had failed its MOT the week before (a few weeks after I booked the day), and retest was the morning before the track day. A mate was coming up with me for the day but heading off somewhere different so we were in two separate cars.

I managed to forget my glasses, contact lenses and my driving license about 5 minutes from home, so he popped back to pick them up as I was travelling more slowly and we were a bit late. He took the other side of the M25, got stuck in a traffic jam and his clutch went. I on the other hand made it as far as the M11 before a rake fell off the back of a transit pickup and popped a trailer tyre.

I changed the tyre and decided to carry on on the basis I'd still get a couple of hours of track time in and they could phone up the DVLA to confirm I had a license. I got there at 6.15, DVLA shut at 6. I had to drive all the way back from Cadwell to Reigate to pick up my spare lenses, then back up to Cadwell for the race the next day. When I got back to the B&B near Cadwell I opened up the glovebox, rooted around to find my phone and found 5 pairs of contact lenses.

Evening Track Day - £140
3 Tanks of Petrol - £200
Trailer tyre - £40

Opening your glovebox to find you've just wasted 6 hours, 150 litres of Petrol, and now have only 5 hours to sleep before your first ever qualifying session, priceless.

Keep posting this stuff - it makes me feel better about myself!

I'm feeling sorry for myself as I angrily walked up a line of cars that were queued up behind a Merc C Class which couldn't get going up a service road ramp. I pushed it free, no bother, then turned around and feel flat on arse. redface In the process I must have jolted my arm and it really hurt. cry

Mrs DL was going away the next day so I didn't want to admit it hurt in case she wouldn't go (who am I trying to kid hehe). It's less painful now, but doing everything myself has been a bit of struggle - I get an electric shock everytime I move my arm. yikes
