Can anyone help me? My mac tools guy has given me a code scanner on approval which i am more than happy to buy at the price provided it is suitable for my '02 plate Mondeo diesel. I am aware of the tools limitations but cant justify the expense of the full blown snap on solus type thing.
The tool in question is can-obd 3 / eobd compatible and the rep is'nt sure that it will talk to the car as he is told that eobd was compulsory for diesel cars from '04 onwards.
He was willing to let me do a demo but the reader is in a sealed package and once broken open it's second hand. Because he is a good bloke i want to do the right thing. Anyone know? Cheers, Paul

Thanks for the input, i have since managed to contact my friendly Ford tech (there are one or two) and he confirms it will be o.k. E.O.B.D was compulsory from 2004 onwards but in reality was in use earlier. I was sceptical as the price of the machine was well under £100. On an almost daily basis i use a manufacturer specific machine to diagnose faults but that was no use to me. Why cant all manufacturers agree? DAF diagnostics wont speak to a Ford. Mind you sometimes they wont speak to the truck they were designed for; must be a lot of REALLY nice coffee shops in Eindhoven...

I have the ET97 which is suposse to be the better one not that impressed really.
Will communicate with some Ford's and not other's all less than three year's old.
Will not communicate with Volvo V50's and new Vauxhall.
Iam waiting for the new update to be loaded to the ET97.
