After extensive research I reckon I need a minimum of 6 hours to feel even vaguely human at work. If I get 7-8 I feel very good, any more is enjoyable but just relaxation mainly.

How much sleep do you reckon you need? How much do you actually get? Apparently Margaret Thatcher managed on 2 hours a night when she was PM, which may explain a lot...

Any less than 7 hours kip and I'm struggling.

Although I do reckon you can tune your body to accept less sleep by getting into a routine.

I seem to be okay with 4-5 hours on a regular basis. I think I should be sleeping more but I don't feel tired til 2-3am, and get up as normal around 8 feeling fine.

I don't think its a waste - I love sleep and bed!

8 hours minimum for me. Sometimes if I'm bored (especially now I've tried to stop drinking in the week) I'll go to bed at 8.00pm...

Seven and a half hours is enough. Nine is better.

At least 6 hours (which still leaves me tired & yawning), 7-8 hours is the norm.

Used to only sleep for 3-5 hours on some nights, go to work in the morning. Was a killer.

Not quite as early as 8, but during the week I am normally in bed at 9-9.30 and watch TV for an hour or so before going to sleep.

Normally about 5 or 6 hours, but somewhat strangely, its not uncommon for me to go a couple of nights with no sleep whatsoever, and still feel fine.

Between 6 and 7 is enough. For one day though I can function on about 4 hours sleep.

It's all about routine. You can quite comfortably get by with 5-6 hours as long as you go to bed the same time every night and get up at the same time. If you change it, even for one day for a lie in, you will feel worse.

At least 7 for me, but my quality of sleep can be pretty bad so even that isn't enough sometimes. When I'm not working I usually settle into a natural bed at 1am, up at 8ish routine.

Long time transient insomniac here.

I find it bizarre. Some nights I sleep really well, up to 9 hours or so, and feel rubbish the next day.

Other nights I am awake most of the night, tired but can't sleep, then feel great the following day.

I have just given up, and take what I can get hehe
