Goodwood FOS on Friday - What is it like?

I have only ever been to the FOS on a Sunday. This year, due to work commitments, I could only do the Friday.

Is it much different to the Sunday in terms of entertainment value?

I have heard it is more of a "press day". I would be taking along my 7 year old son, so would there be noticeably less going on to hold his interest?

Very similar - even the crowds are huge these days. You might find a few less star turns around, but that needn't matter. You won't get the FTD shoot-out though. If your 7 year old son is anything like I was at that age, he'll have the best time ever.

There's still more than enough to keep a seven year old happy as a pig in st on the friday. Look out for the "free friday ticket" offers in some newspapers nearer the time as well.

I only ever go on Fridays, and (yes) I may be missing out on some of the formalities of Sat/Sun. I choose Friday because it is quieter, feels more informal (it's all about practising) and it is fresh and new. I am sure you'll have as great a day attending on Friday as you would have had on Sunday...albeit without 'prize giving'.
