Hi all,

Spoke to Brummies pal Craig and got some prices/details about the kits.

For a group of 10 or more:

They're £140 a pair + £10.00 courier due to value of kits. (Royal mail only offer up to £150 on 48 our delivery)
Rack Spacers are £15 on top of this.

New taper bolts are made from EN24T (not stainless)
This includes all the items in Brummies pics, boots, half height nuts etc.

As has been previously stated you MAY need to remove a few threads from the track rods to give you sufficient clearance for tracking but as all the cars appear to be different you may not find this.

Also you may need to tidy up the bottom of the taper in the steering arm on the hub as Craig found that where the nuts is tightened the bottom of the taper may be slightly deformed.

Rack spacers are recommended for lowered cars.

Hope I'm not treading on anyones toes with this?

So, who's interested?

No. Person Kit Type Paid? Total Price
1. Ridds Joints, Taper Bolts and Rack Spacers Paid £165
2. Itiejim Joints, Taper Bolts and Rack Spacers Paid £165
3. dean ratpac Joints, Taper Bolts and Rack Spacers Paid £160

I'd be interested if there were comprehensive setup instructions as I suspect they are not a direct swap...

It would pretty much be:

Remove old track rods.
Fit boot to Rose Joint
Fit Rose Joint to treaded bar with half nut
Thread on to Track Rod
Fit to Steering arm.

Undo Rack bolts
Lift and fit spacers
Refit rack bolts

Get wheels roughly straight and drive to local tracking centre and get it tracked up. Here they may bottom out the track rods where removal of some threads may be necessary.

I'll have a set - not sure about the rack spacers though - will they help improve things on a standard-ish height car?

Bump steer is the toe of the car changing during suspension travel. Effectively the car attempting to steer itself in a bump situation. It is CRITICAL to how a car is stable in corners or bumpy surfaces. Bump steer does not appear to have been a consideration for TVR as stock it's disgusting. This kit looks to correct some of the bump steer by altering the angle of the steering tie rods.

Anyone know if these will fit on a '00 Tuscan? It looks like the steering arms are the same from the parts websites.

If so I'll be in for a kit.

Has the bump steer been measured accurately with this kit installed yet? I was following the other thread with quite some interest and can't recall seeing any figures yet.

Copied from Savroo's post on the linked thread:

Hi I have just carried out the Rose Joint bump steer mod on mine, i never read this article until now, i wish i did as i would have saved so much time.

I ended up with lifting up the steering rack as high as i could which is 15mm spacer + carried out the rose joint tie rod conversion. SO the rose joint is now fitted below not above, plus i added 20mm shims on this, but on full suspension rebound the rose joint would hit the lower wishbone on full steering lock, so had to reduce the shim to 10mm. With so much of a adjustment the bumpsteer is still not perfect, but i have to say stock is just terrible amounts of toe in on bump.

The results as follows (on 35mm lowered ride height compared to standard ride heightapprox):

Suspension Travel (inches) Toe in inches
Rebound.......-3.......................0.118110236......Toe Out
Rebound.......-2.......................0.05905511.......Toe Out
Rebound.......-1.......................0
Ride Height....0.......................0
Bump...........1.......................-0.02755905.......Toe In
Bump...........2.......................-0.09055118.......Toe In
Bump...........3.......................-0.13779527.......Toe In

The above results show a great improvement against stock tie rod and stock steering rack height, i think if i could get the tie rod 10 to 15 mm lower it would be more optimum, i.e slight toe out on bump. I think Bump 3 inches could be ignored on my car as i think it would never reach that kind of bump.

I still need to get the car 4 wheel laser aligned, but due to the bad weather (snow) i wont be until it clears up. Cerbera are totally not designed for the snow, especially with semi slick tyres lol

I think the above would be a perfect setup on stock ride height Cerbera's!!!! u might get slight toe out on bump?????????

Ridds, please add me to the list,

Seen as I'm keeping mine for a long time, I think this sounds like a worthy mod.

God I need a garage to fit all these parts I keep buying.

I'm up in Leeds so not an option unfortunately. Given all the cars look to use the same track rod ends as standard I assume they will.

Count me in.

Cheers,

Marcus

I'm interested but unless I've missed a post on this, hasn't the prototype only done the '4 miles from Brummie's garage to Craig's workshop'? A bit more testing and proving before cranking the production handle maybe?
