RANT - Police motorbike numptie
Discussion
Yesterday I witnessed stupidity that rivals the wikkid bunch the decorate McDonalds car parks the world over (it seems!).
Here in Gibraltar a policeman on a 'chips' style bike rode through a pedestrian area (about 12ft wide with house doors, shops and pubs on either side) at what I would say was about 50 - 60 MPH without a siren or blue light in use.
Had someone walked out from their house (or the pub after a few
) they would have been splatted on the front of his bike.
Absolutely and utterly stupid, is there any reason in the world that would justify these actions?
I get 3 points and a fine for 34 in a 30?

Police motorcyclists are some of the most highly trained riders in the world - there must have been a reason.
I class myself as a good rider and once had the oppertunity to follow (try to) a police motorcyclist. I was on my R6 at the time and struggled to keep up down fairly twisty a/b roads, he looked to be going very slowly but in fact was just so smooooooth.

British bike cops, maybe . . . perhaps not Gibraltarian ones, though. I don't know of anywhere in Gib that is safe to do 50-60mph, except perhaps the runway - or when doing a runner through the border

Agreed, but in this instance the only way that this could have been safe is if the police officer knew that no one would walk out of one of the buildings.
Police Motorcyclists....
Majority of people who ride bikes don't know what the bike is capable of and probably ride it at around 50% of that capability because that is the level of the riders riding skill. The police motorcyclist will know what his machine can do and will have the ability and confidence to use the bikes as they are designed to be ridden.
A high % of UK riders seem to think that cos they have the latest best handling, fastest bike in the world it makes them a better rider.
But the plod in Gib was stupid....and should be banned..endangering human life...jail in fact.

Self preservation is the message.
Sounds like this chap in Gibralter broke the Golden Rule of Motorcycling.
I can honestly say that out of all the Driving courses that ive done in the 'Police' that the Solo course was the most demanding.
It raises your awareness and teaches you how to control the machine.....because it hurts when you come off, and thats based upon experience.

A spokesman said 'It was the workman's fault, we'll have words to say to them'
Who was the rider.... Ray Charles ? ......if he couldn't see he was about to ride into wet cement then that suggests pi55 poor observation especially in a BUA where he was likely going slow.
Edit : Think this might be a hoax as there doesn't appear to be a trail behind the rear wheel in the cement and would a PM really be as dumb to ride into wet cement ?
