Almost every single political poll on this site has the torys as clear leaders

Why?

Well, none of the above for many people.

Many will vote for them as, although not the best/ideal party possible (no party ever is) but is perceived as closest to their political leanings. Most people go for "best fit", not what they 100% believe in.

Obviously there'll be those that will vote them to get Labour out (and those that will vote Labour to try and keep the tories out etc.).

Because PH is traditionally right wing. Think about it for a moment, the internet home of the TVR owner. TVRs cost lots of money to run and own.

Money requires a job. Lots of money requires a good job.

So the number of benefit scroungers on the original PH was low.

PH then starts to appeal to other high value vehicles because TVRs break down and the original owners don't have the nerve to just torch them. They in turn recoup their investment by selling said car to another well heeled individual.

Because said TVR breaks down, the new owner then requires an internet forum to seek refuge. Hence PH again.

The previous TVR owner buys another high priced, but reliable car, and wants to stick around PH;

a) because he feels quilty for leaving the TVR community and wants to stay
b) cause he has no life and all his friends are still on PH, still owning TVRs

So he sticks around, and incessantly talks about his Porsche.

Because he bores everyone about his Porsche PetrolTed made him his own Porsche section. The PHer (as they describe the affliction) then recruits other Porsche owners that he meets at his AA meetings. And they too join PH.

Then he wrecks his Porsche, has a row with his wife, and buys a BMW.

He then lobbies PetrolTed for a new section. Which gets granted.

Then, PH is discovered by people who want to be wealthy and dream about owning a TVR. They too are right wing leaning, for although they are unable to afford a TVR or Porsche, they want one and are working hard to own one.

But they buy a Vauxhall.

So they lobby Ted for a Vauxhall section and it gets granted.

And so forth.

Eventually however, PH gets so many people that they get a chat section, and then Haymarket take over and forget PH is a car site and just turn it into a monster chat site for the right of thinking people that Michael Heseltine probably prefers.

Occasionally, PH lets in a lefty, but its purely for amusement. Bt like picking on the "retard" at school. The poor fker who doesn't know any better.

I will vote because I want Labour out. I prefer UKIP in terms of their policies, I am seething about the Eco rubbish CMD spouts (I would love to know whether it's a bandwagon or whether he actually believes it) BUT I think I will have to give serious, serious, consideration to emigrating if Labour get in another term.

After 13 years of watching vicious, insipid people apparently verging on mental illness ruin the country and any others they can get their greedy hands on, some voters are beginning to think perhaps they shouldn't listen to their parents tell them who to vote for regardless of the evidence. And the rest of us have known better for a while.

I voted the top one, but I would prefer to have voted, to get rid of Labour but I don't like THESE Tories. In principal, I am a Conservative, but I do not like the current Tory party. Shame.

In what way are the tories right wing or at least offer something that would specifically appeal to someone who is?

I am struggling, partly because some of what everyone is saying makes sense, partly because I live in a Labour seat that should be so safe even putting jade Goody up against the little crawly career junior minister we have would result in a win for the Labour party. That and the Tories have put a journalist up as their candidate and while he is a great public speaker and actually from the town I can't help but be sceptical that he was a Labour party member in the not too distant past.

In fact if I could I would move my vote to another town, the majority of voters here vote labour because their parents did, the others that bother to vote just tick at random. Oh and this town is responsible for Mandy and for elcting a football mascot as mayor!

I think I would much prefer if we voted for the leader and the cabinet as a nation and left local politics in a different box.

For certain values of 'right wing' anyway. At least they tend to go for smaller state and lower taxes.

Look at the Labour FB group posted here a while ago, all the comments on there are from people who on here would be classified in one of the following categories:-

Dole Monkeys
Jeremy Kyle Rejects
Benefit Scroungers
Professional TV Watchers
The Dregs of Society

etc etc.

PH is for people with jobs/careers, ambition and a desire to do well in life in order to own a Porsche/Ferrari/Lotus/Blackpool canoe with a big engine, none of which are really compatible with the leftist philosophy.

Herein lies my problem biggrin

The first category form the basis of the people I, well my staff are paid to work with. My values are firmly in the accumulate personal wealth through hard work and effort camp, as that is how I was brought up.

I'm voting for UKIP, Tory is the same as Labour and the country will slide further towards the black hole if they get in.

A vote for UKIP is a vote for a hung parliament and a hung parliament is a weak parliament that won't make the hard decisions that need to be made. I will vote Conservative for two reasons, firstly I want this Labour shower out as soon as possible and as decisively as possible and secondly the Conservatives will make a much better job of running the country IMO.

However, I am furious with DC and the parliamentary party generally for their eco, pro AGW stance which I don't believe fits in with what the vast majority of grass roots Tories believe. I've noted that DC hasn't been harping on about green issues quite as much recently. I'm praying that this is a sign that he's reviewing the evidence and is, before the election, going to say that he now believes the science is not as settled as he thought and he wants to allow more open debate about it (at least). Sadly I think I will be disappointed but I would still rather DC in Number 10 than Winky.

Surprised at the size of the first option.

I hope Labour lose. But would like a hung parliament with a Tory/LD pact most likely, with a surge in the smaller parties and independents.
