Folks, I'm just putting my clutch back together and have found that there is some discrepancy in the "sliders" that allow the clutch centre plate to move.

4 are straight, whilst 2 have the ends curved over - see photo below. I assume that they should all be straight and that the two curved ones have just got trapped (instead of sliding) and curved the ends over.

Can anyone confirm?

I have my new clutch in front of me before it goes in the car and the plates should have a lip on them which goes on first then the plates over it:

That's fantastic, thanks.

I don't suppose you could also take another photo for me - looking at the one you've already taken, if you turned the clutch about 15 degrees around its axis then I could just confirm the position and orientation of the \_/ shaped springs mounted on the centre plate!

Cheers!

Dont forget to silicone the threads on the flywheel bolts to crank as they are drilled all the way through. To stop oil escaping!

That's great, thanks.

Can you confirm that yours is a new clutch pack?

I have photographed mine below, which appears to be the same as yours. However, my machinist skimmed the centre plate and removed the \_/ springs (obviously replacing them afterwards). An AP specialist mentioned to me that I needed to be careful when I put the pack back together that the stronger springs went on the flywheel side. To the best of my sense of touch, the slightly longer springs are the stronger ones and, in both of our photos they are facing away from the flywheel.

If yours is a new clutch then it must be correct as it is - if you turned the centre plate over then the pins are not long enough to engage with the star lock washers. However, if yours as had the \_/ springs removed like mine then I'm left unsure....

Sorry for the confusing post and thanks again for the photos.

Yes you are correct. Mine is the later style clutch although has Russell's magic breathed upon it with Raceproved components.

My centre plate was not touched so the orientation of the butterfly springs is correct as in both pics. You are also right in that the starlock washers will only locate one way anyway. When installing onto the flywheel, i was advised by Keith @ Clever Trevor to rotate the pack to the next lug on the flywheel so the butterfly springs have a unused contact patch on it.

Thanks for that - so I've got everything in the right order clap

I've had the flywheel skimmed so shouldn't have to worry about rotating it - though it sounds like good advice.

I'm not actually fitting it just yet but I'm taking all of the rotating assembly - crank, rods, pistons, clutch etc to be balanced tomorrow and need to be sure that it is all assembled correctly so that I don't have to move it and lose the benefits of balancing.

Hopefully I can start putting it all back together in a week or so. Spring's coming driving

Hi sk7ine man

Those chamfered allen bolts in the picture of your clutch are just what I'm looking for to put mine back on the car.

Did they come from Raceproved or did you source them elsewhere?

Hope it's all gone back together OK!
