I know there are loads. Elvis, The Moon, The New World Order, Aliens etc.

Just wondering if there have been any that have been proved either way conclusively. I am not up for the debate or how people on either side think its clear cut etc.

Preferably where one side did a major u-turn and agreed.

Cheers,

Crash.

Smoking really does cause cancer, despite the tobacco industry suppressing the evidence for decades. Is that the sort of thing you meant?

Once something like this is clearly proven, the conspiracy disappears, surely?

The problem with that is...they wont be theories then. Because theories are just that- unproven.

You could say that during, say 1941 there was a conspiracy theory about the Holocaust. We now know its true, so its no longer a conspiracy theory.

Or look up somehting like mythbusters

I get your point, but the Holocaust is not really much of a conspiracy. Was just an outright lie at the time.

I am thinking - 'Government Hide Aliens'. Next week the Military turn up with ET and go 'Ok, hes been living in Vegas'

I can't remember exactly but there was something about the American government deliberatly infecting people with syphillis in the 1940s that President Clinton admitted to.

Well, it is hard to deny a new world order is forming. On this side of the world countries leaders are seeding their powers to one big power. On the other side of the world, developing countries are becoming powerful.

Presidents have even started (or did start for a while) to use the term publicly!

Then there is JFK. Who really believes the official story. I think most people accept that that is a conpsiracy with a lot of truth to it, but will it be actually proved more than it has been? I don't think it needs to be!

There is a conspiracy going around that the UK and US went to war illegally, it seems that one might get proved to be correct.

There are lots that are obviously not just crazy conspiracies, proof is difficult though!

Not quite. They just lied to them about why they were in hospital. Nobody was actually infected it seems. More like they were chosen as they had it.

It wa sa conspiracy, but it was found out and became fact, like the many Coups d'état that happen, Iran and the Shah, or the Suez Canal etc, these are historical fact, but they were conspiracies to begin with, all you need to have a conspiracy is two people planning/plotting something. As the above said, once something becomes established beyond reasonable doubt the 'conspiracy' tag soon gets lost. There is a good book called Fatherland that deals with if the NAZIs won the war. In this history the holocaust is a conspiracy story, because at the time no-one really knew what was happening, it wasn't common knowledge, and was hushed up after the victory, likewise if the British had been successful in the Suez crisis would we have known the true start of it? Gulf of Tonkin is another, there are many many conspiracies that get found out.

I'm sure there used to be a list or subsection listing proven ones, there were about 6 or so, and mostly war politics.
