Has anyone recent experience of taking their Wedge via a car ferry. We are planning a trip to Ireland and plan to use one of the fast cats as being newer boats they may be more TVR friendly.

Make sure that you tell them that the car is low and make sure it sinks in! I had problems going to the last LeMans classic with my wedge, damaged the exhaust after they told me that there was plenty of clearance.
The planks which should help you with low cars are the wooden ones, not the ones in the hi-vis jackets!
Lorry decks are usually better as they have little or no slope when getting on'off!

Never had a problem using ferries with the 450 even when fully loaded 2 up and with camping gear and full tank of motion lotion.

Planks were put down to reduce severity of ramp and I went on at a slight angle, one wheel at a time.

Hope this helps.

If you use the Stena HSS there's hardly any step to speak of, I've been over on the bike and had no problems.

The only time I had a really chewy ramp was some years back when I was the last van onto the Hull-Rotterdam when it was a stern-loader; the ramp felt like it must have been at 30 degrees and they made me reverse up it diagonally so I could be parked across the end of some trucks as I was carrying radioactives! Although I got there in plenty of time they made me wait while the entire boat was loaded; I had to sit on the dockside, busting for a Jimmy Riddle for almost two hours... irked
