I know it's in The Sun, but has anybody else seen the story anywhere else ?

Apparantly, Sony say that due to "production related matters", GT5 has been put back indefinitely ?

They have spent £37 million on it so far and are yet to have a game show for it......

So, I guess this means any release date is just not true ? OR, the story is untrue.... who knows ??

I can't see how that would be true.

Prologue shows that the game is basically done. Surely if anything they would just put less cars or tracks in the full game and release it for £20..

The thing is, indefinitely can mean so many things, I suspect they just don't want to announce another release date because that's just asking for more aggro and dissapointment if they miss it.

Wasn't GT4 massively delayed, I seem to remember waiting an age for that to appear as well, not in the same league as the wait for GT5 though.

I saw some speculation that the release to the Japanese market was being delayed because of better than expected console sales in FY2009 leading to a desire to spread the effect of the new game to FY2010.

I bought a PS3 2 years ago, just for this game, and I can't be the only one. It's a bit of piss take to want to delay the game so that more people will buy a PS3 to play it - what about us poor sods with consoles gathering dust waiting?!

I've given up and bought Forza 3 instead. GT5 will be a massive disappointment when it arrives, I'll wager.

You aren't. rage

On the other hand, the suggestion was that only the Japanese launch was being delayed, possibly until the later release dates planned for other markets.

I am not holding my breath.

The really annoying thing is that I genuinely don't use my PS3 as there's no other games for it which I'm interested in. I have a 360 and buy games for that instead. My PS3 is presently a blu-ray player/paperweight until GT5 comes out. frown

Mine has only ever had GT5p and NFS Shift played on it - I'm only really interested in driving games. We mostly use it as a bluray player, although I suppose I could turn it on if the living room feels a little chilly.

Delayed due to "production-related matters"...in other words it's broken and bug-ridden!

Hopefully only a couple of months delay...

I'd rather they get it right, then release it. (Unlike MW2...) So if there are ANY glitches or bugs in this then I'll be hopping mad. (I still reckon that there will be an 'update' availible as soon as I put the disc in on launch day though... such is life.)

This doesn't say it's put back for Europe release date, so i don't see the bother now.

Because you can't push back a date that hasn't been announced, they'd said it would be out for March in Japan and they've now delayed that indefinitely. As we were likely to receive it after the Japanese you can probably assume that we'll receive it indefinitely + 2 months...

Just to confirm, the story is true, its been on a number of games/tech related websites.

Defiantly turning into another Duke Nukem.

I too got tired of waiting for GT5 so I got an xbox and forza 3.

Still looking forward to GT5, it does look good, but I'm now in no rush and it can take as long as it likes to come out, hey, by the time it comes out, the PS3 may have dropped in price some more.........due to it being last gen technology, biggrin
