I'm hoping I'm not the only one who finds this hilarious. Fair enough, they should be catching dirty criminal scum, but its just funny to watch.

I reckon its all part of good community relations (until one of them breaks a leg and then has 3months off fully paid)

thats brilliant- i'm sure some will complain, but it shows humanity biggrin

and lets be honest its about the best use of a riote shield, which isn't going to be damaged by a bit of snow.

Not really...It looks like good use to me...sledge training...think about it.

Some tea leaf nicks your car stereo whilst you are parked in the car park having some fun with your kids sledging.

Tea leaf runs off down hill with stereo....police make chase on riot sledge (after self training) to catch tea leaf....job done wink

Actually think about it.....when they catch tea leaf at bottom of hill they have riot sledge in hand now for hitting...err defending themselves from tea leaf...sounds like an excellent use for the riot shield/riot sledge

Nah they were having fun for a few mins on shift. So what leave em alone. Now waste of tax payers money, lets see

The Royals
The BBC
Benefit scroungers
Social workers
Learning and skills councils
Off anything
Anything with agency in its title
All quangos
Anything with climate change in its title or terms of reference
Most universities that used to be Polytechnics
Any college or University course with "Studies" in the title.

That will do for now, police sleging on riot shields not really a problem.

It is good. I'm sure they were only there a few minutes and it's not likely they could break those things:

"Riot Sledges" - hehe - excellent!

That's hilarious :-)

Given those circumstances I'd have done the same - looks great fun laugh

What's not apparent in those videos are the criminals they are actually 'chasing' after.

I was there....and the scene was akin to that scene in '007 - The Living Daylights' when Dalton and D'Abo were escaping from the Ruskies using the Cello Case......which incidentally is what the crims were using in this case.

On the contrary, it would do wonders for community relations as I see it.

The officers should be commended, not reprimanded.

Absolutely agree. It's nice to see the police looking human for a change.

Not really the case I'm afraid - the riot shield is highly likely to be ruined by using it as a sledge. Being made of polycarbonate (Lexan) all of the strength of the shield is in the outer few microns of plastic, kinda like a banana, relatively tough, but if you nick the outside, it suddenly gets all squishy (ish!). Same reason you are warned to replace a crash helmet if it gets scratched, or why you see films where the bank robbers scratch the barriers in the bank with a sharp point before smashing them.
