New season of 24 starts this weekend in the US and about seven days later in the UK if my information is correct...

...This "day" includes special guest stars Starbuck and the chap from the Scooby Doo movies (sans the blonde hair)

Can't wait. Dammit!

FANTASTIC!

Wasn't some of this one shot in London or am I totally wrong there?

I've heard that it is all New York (in fact CTU will be reconstituted as CTU New York - no more of this week arse FBI stuff - for some proper interrogations)

Can't wait either, I'm a big fan. Though I am sure I already know the plot...... essentially the stereotyical terrorists are being funded or backed by "big business" (though the terrorists might not know that). And somehow Jack's daughter Kim will be caught up in it.

Rumoured to be the last season. Sutherland's contract is up after this one (but there is constant discussion about a "movie")

Quality tv.
What with 24, Lost, Heroes, true blood and flash forward all returning I am not sure I can cope...
And is Dexter 4 on it's way???

I'm also a big fan of Spooks and personally think Spooks is better than 24 now. More characters and the plots are not as one dimensional as 24.

As I wrote earlier, it's the same every "Day" with 24, terrorists funded/backed by "big business".... or key staff in the Govt/Security Services turning a blind eye to a terrorist attack in the hope it makes the case for war. A pretty obvious nod to 9/11 conspiracy theories.

Having said all that, can't wait for the new series!

LAst one was weak...felt like they made up each episode as they went. A plot twist is not exciting if its repeated and nonsensical.

They took the great "who's the mole" plot from Season 1 and turned it into a pantomime of he is he isnt he is he isnt he might be he cant be he was he might be good next time though.

My problem with the last one was that the final twist totally negated everything that had happened. You'd think "hang on, but he wouldn't have done XYZ if that was the case". It was almost a cop out; they got to the end having thought "dammit, we've made everyone appear to be bad and appear to be good throughout 23 episodes, now we just have to decide who it's going to be".

Exactly...if you were to watch it over again it would suck because most of the actions taking place fail to have any purpose knowing what you now know....and many of them are rendered pointless/absurd/nonsensical.

Good TV for goldfish i suppose.

Making Almeida a baddy (or quasi-baddy) was probably a "jump the shark" moment. In fact, resurrecting him was probably one as well. As long as they don't try to resurrect David Palmer, I guess they will do ok.

All television is mindless IMHO, however, I much prefer to watch Jack than any of the reality "American Idol Has Talent" or whatever.

isn't almeida a triple-agent or was that a quadruple-agent now? he seemed to swap sides every episode of the last series - I've lost track.

24 is, in my opinion, the televisual equivalent of a Pizza Hut 'all you can eat' buffet.

There's no great surprises, you know exactly what you are getting, it's not of the finest quality, but it's enjoyable to gorge on all the same from time to time.

I'm looking forward to it!
