Can you repair them?
I thought once they were punctured that was them and they had to be thrown away and replaced?
Well it depends who you are talking to basically - for example the Michelin website says quite clearly it can be done but most of the major tyre dealers wont do it (my usual crowd - Farmer Auto - will do Bridgestone RFTs but not Michelin). Lots of rather dull info on this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a....
So what I need is a smallish local outfit that are big enough to have the equipment to do an 18 inch RFT but are not so big that they are following this strange unwritten rule that it cant be done...
Ok so Farmer Auto have done an about turn and have said they will repair it after all (I'm taking it in tomorrow).
So if any BMW driver in the Edinburgh area gets a punctured RFT (and hasn't knackered the tyre by driving a distance on it while fully deflated) you know where to go. An £18 repair beats £250 for a new one
